Class of 2019, your senior year starts now!  Though your senior photo session may be months away, it’s never too early to start thinking about what you plan to wear.  After all, the goal of an editorial fashion shoot is to let your personality really shine, which makes your fashion choices even more important.

The team at Jenny Puranen Photography includes Jenny Norman of Tadea styles.  Jenny will help you take your personal style and translate it to your photographs.  She knows what looks will photograph best and can help you select a variety of outfits for your session.  

We suggest starting a Pinterest board for inspiration.  Look at our photo gallery and our own fashion boards and see what catches your eye.  Be mindful of what colors and styles are best for you and stay true to your look.

Here are some things to think about as you plan for your session.

Current Trends

Being fashion forward or trendy in your photos can be a tricky balance. You want to be unique and capture this specific moment in time, but you also don’t want your photos to look dated by next spring.  Look for ongoing fashion trends rather than passing fads. Current popular looks with staying power include exposed shoulders, ripped jeans, and denim jackets.

Variety

We will shoot you in a few different outfits, so go for variety in your looks.  You may want to select one casual look and one more formal look, like jeans and a cute top for some photos and a dress for others.  Different but complementary colors look nice when your photos are grouped together on a gallery wall. Try to include one solid color top in a color that looks especially good on you.  And think about where you will be taking your photos and what will look best against that background.

Don’t forget the accessories

As you plan, spend some time on the details.  Think about shoes and jewelry. Don’t forget to bring proper undergarments, like a strapless bra, if necessary.

Ultimately, the best advice we can give is for you to choose outfits that make you feel comfortable and beautiful.  Your confidence will translate in your photos!
